Scaffolding access / Yorkshire

Chimney Stack Scaffolding.

The chimney may sit well above the eaves or behind a roof slope. Tell us which part of the stack your contractor needs to reach, and we’ll assess the access required for the planned work.

The working brief

Access to the stack, not just the roof edge.

A roof-level platform and access around a chimney answer different working needs. The chimney’s position, the sides being worked on and the roof layout all form part of the assessment.

Repointing & brickwork

Access to the sides of the chimney for mortar and masonry repairs. Specify whether one face or the whole stack is involved.

Leadwork & roof junctions

Access around the base of the chimney for flashing repairs and adjacent roofing work, according to the roofer’s requirements.

Rebuilding & reduction

Describe the extent of the work and how your contractor plans to handle materials and debris. These requirements need consideration before quotation.

Pots, cowls & inspections

Explain the height and position of the part being reached, whether for replacement fittings, investigation or maintenance.

Before an arrangement is agreed

A small working area can have a complex approach.

Discuss your access requirements

Chimney position

A stack near the ridge, a gable-end chimney and one above a lower roof present different approaches. A wide photograph of the roof is useful.

Access beneath the roof

Lower extensions, narrow passages and neighbouring property can affect where a scaffold can be positioned. Describe these along with the stack itself.

The contractor’s task

Repointing and removing brickwork have different requirements. Share the intended working area and material-handling brief without guessing a scaffold specification.

Chimney Stack Scaffolding FAQs

A few things
worth asking.

Can a normal roofing scaffold reach a chimney?

Not always. A platform at the eaves may not provide the access needed around a stack. The chimney position and contractor’s working requirements need assessment.

Can you arrange access for a chimney being removed?

Yes, you can enquire for chimney removal access. Explain the scope and your contractor’s material and waste-handling requirements so these can be assessed.

Do you need to see the property?

Photographs can help with the initial discussion. Where the roof arrangement or supporting access is unclear, a site visit can be arranged before the requirements are confirmed.

Do you carry out the chimney repairs?

This service is for scaffolding access. Your appointed chimney or roofing contractor carries out the repair work; Sky High quotes for and coordinates the scaffolding arrangements.
